We deliver level 4/5 Pearson BTEC HNDs in Business, Public Services, Policing and Art & Design, and a range of franchised degrees, and now seek to appoint a part-time tutor to support our adult learners in study skills, academic literacy, computing skills and English language.

About You

The position will suit someone with a qualification in teaching and/or extensive education and training experience, especially at undergraduate level. You will have worked with adult students who have unrealised potential but have either not had the opportunity to realise it or have not taken the opportunity previously. You will have the ability and experience to use innovative and engaging teaching methods, relevant to adult learners, as well as the patience and skills to encourage, nurture and develop students from a wide variety of educational backgrounds and initial abilities. The position requires working both online and on campus (including some 6pm to 8pm online lessons), hence having flexible availability is essential.

You should be a graduate (a CELTA/DELTA and/or relevant MA/MSc or equivalent would be an advantage) and have experience in teaching English for Academic Purposes and/or Study Skills within a HE context. Preferably, you should have experience in updating and/or creating teaching and learning materials. Experience of preparing and delivering bespoke support that is embedded/integrated into the curriculum would also be an advantage. You must be fluent in English, both written and oral, be able to provide effective feedback to students, and have strong interpersonal and organisational skills. It is essential that you are highly IT literate and a proficient user of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. You must also be familiar with Moodle (or similar VLE), Turitin and Grademark.

Please note that offers of employment are always subject to proof of eligibility to work in the UK and satisfactory reference checks. Additionally, as part of our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults, this position will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

In addition to the teaching, you will be required to act as a Personal Tutor, counsel ‘at risk’ students and also work with learners to support the development of their ILPs. Attendance at academic meetings, programme boards and CPD sessions is essential. The College is a friendly environment which offers excellent support, placing strong emphasis on continuous professional development.
