Join DGHE’s Climate Matters Symposium for our “WHAT’S ACTIVISM?” Panel Discussion on Friday 22 September, 2023, as 5pm.

MEET THE SPEAKERS

This week we are thrilled to introduce you to the panelists who will be joining us for a panel discussion on “What’s Activism” on Friday, 22 September, starting at 5 PM. They will be discussing what is activism for them and we believe that each of our speakers will bring a unique perspective to the discussion.

Amy McAllister

Amy McAllister is an actor, writer, poet, and activist from Ireland. She grew up in Tallaght, a working-class housing project on the outskirts of Dublin. McAllister made her feature film debut in the BAFTA award-winning Philomena. Other television projects include A Discovery of Witches, Breeders, There She Goes, Witless, and Miss Scarlet and the Duke. Amy has also worked extensively in theatre in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Sweden, and Australia.

As a poet, Amy has performed at the Royal Albert Hall, Udderbelly, the Royal Festival Hall, and at the European Poetry Slam Final in Berlin. She trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and lives in London.

Mark Godber

Mark is Interim Joint Artistic Director & Senior Producer at Artsadmin and has worked here in many different roles since 2000. Mark works on partnership projects including Season for Change and Another Route and is usually involved in Artsadmin’s work around climate and social justice, including What Shall We Build Here and before that the 2 Degrees Festival. Mark loves art that surprises and engages audiences in a conversation, and the experience of being part of a collective moment. He is a parent of two children.

Arthur Perez and Lola Brichet

Arthur and Lola are the co-founders of The Village, a social organization with a mission to prepare communities for the challenges of a warming climate. In The Village, they design and manage inclusive, welcoming spaces where people can eat, drink, meet, relax, and learn how to reduce their environmental footprint. They also provide a platform for like-minded businesses to trade affordably, contributing to the solution by co-creating a circular economy. Arthur and Lola are not only partners in business but also in life. They ventured into The Village project after the birth of their child, driven by the desire to build a future that she deserves—one that is hopeful, just, and regenerative. They are proud residents of Tower Hamlets and active local activists.
