School of Art & Design

The School of Art & Design will launch you into the exciting and dynamic world of the creative industries providing a number of career pathways and university progression opportunities.

DGHE art and design students are treated as individuals and are encouraged to develop specialist areas of interest. The smaller class sizes (10-15) allow the tutors to get to know the students and offer personalised guidance throughout their tuition.

The Art and Design School at DGHE is a friendly environment with a lively, informal learning atmosphere where students are treated as individuals and are given personalised guidance and support throughout their course. Each student is encouraged to develop as an independent practitioner. We strive to get to know all our students as individuals so that we can help them to realise their personal potential and guide them towards achieving their own goals.

As you walk through all areas of the building you will witness our passion for the arts. The College itself has many original paintings, textiles, posters, and photographs on display in its corridors and classrooms from our growing archive, as well as regular pop-ups and more formal exhibitions showing experimental in-progress work and end of year shows by students and tutors who are all practising graphic design and visual artists.

In the summer of 2019, the Art & Design department underwent further refurbishment works as part of the College’s commitment to the area, developing new mac studios and print rooms. These works have enabled us to create an integrated learning environment that facilitates further collaboration between all of our areas of study in (fine) art, graphics, print and design.
