One main objective in completing your studies will be to enhance your career prospects. As well as the engaging delivery of relevant content supporting achieving your HND or Bachelor’s degree, we offer a suite of activities and information to support your onward journey into the workplace.

What do we offer?

A Personalised Career Service

Our fully qualified Careers & Employability Consultant is available to engage with students on a 1-2-1 basis, either in person in the college, by email or via Zoom, to discuss any career-related matter, including writing a CV, cover letter, personal statement, job search, interview techniques, interview practice and much more.

Students and alumni can book an appointment by emailing Roger at r.martin@dghe.ac.uk.

Additionally, we offer workshops within the curriculum, covering many of the above topics. Look out for these workshops, which are advertised throughout the year.

We organise a Careers Fair every year, free to all our students. We have external speakers who have expertise in their particular field. Past examples have included The Metropolitan Police, The City of London Police, The Prison Service, Human Resources and Management Consultants, Design and Marketing Agencies and many more. All events are recorded, so all students can access the talks if they cannot attend on the day.

At DGHE, we are known for our personal and tailored support for each student. Through one-to-one careers coaching sessions and drop-in clinics, we ensure that we treat students as individuals. We offer bespoke advice on a student’s particular circumstances, whether a desire to work in a specialised area or writing a supporting statement for a UCAS application. Your course leader will be the person you can ask to be your academic referee.

In addition to all the face-to-face contact mentioned above, students can access extensive and carefully curated online content. Primarily this is via the College Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), the partner institutions’ VLEs (Bucks New University or the University of Gloucestershire), or through the Pearson student portal “HN Global”.

We can help strengthen your employability skills through the channels above, including interview techniques, writing CVs and cover letters, UCAS applications, job search skills, LinkedIn profile (online footprint) and networking.
